Hassan Christopher is an independent director/choreographer and multidisciplinary artist. As a director he works collaboratively across mediums to make movement driven art experiences for stage, camera and site-specific locations. Reported sightings often place him somewhere between freelance gigs and independent projects including his most recent, Culture Bolt––an adventurous arts & culture lab based in Austin, Texas.

Experience & Awards

Hassan earned the Lester Horton Innovator Award, an NAACP award for Best Stage Choreography, a New York Musical Festival Award for Excellence, and numerous nominations. His work as a performer and director/choreographer has been seen at venues nationally and abroad including the Guggenheim, REDCAT, Socrates Sculpture Park, Hudson River Park, UCLA, Grand Performances, Highways Performance Space, Dixon Place and many more. Freelance credits include movement direction and coaching for Spencer Ludwig, choreography for Chocolate News and the Naked Trucker & T-Bone show on Comedy Central; and music videos for TVOTR, Shakira, Usher and Britney Spears.

Art of Moving People

Hassan is a passionate movement educator with over a decade of experience teaching contemporary/modern, jazz, partnering, improvisation, choreography and urban dance forms. He has taught at leading studios including the Edge in Hollywood and served as a guest lecturer and faculty for UCLA, LMU, Scripps College and the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in Los Angeles and New York among others.
